About

Via a walk through some of the most fragile and degraded land, through still intact rainforest and native forest, Keri James is hoping to raise awareness about the widespread destruction and misuse of natural resources in the South East of Australia.

With nearly two thirds of our forested land logged, Australia’s native forests are still being logged, turned into wood products and woodchipped for paper and paper products.

Keri’s walk, with daughter Clover, started in Canberra on the 1st September 2008. From there they have walked through the south east of the ACT, down through Namadji and east to the South Coast. They have – with the help and support of many walkers and their support team – passed through Bega, Eden, Orbost and recently made it to Melbourne. They sailed across Bass Straight and reached Tasmania on the 23rd November and will end up in some of the most endangered forests in the northern part of the state.

Get in touch to see how you can help with joining the walk, providing supplies, providing a place to sleep, driving a support car / bike with trailer, help get other local environment groups on board, organise film nights & media when she comes to your town, etc.
